Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2014 Ford F-150, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Demco Stay-IN-Play supplemental braking system. Before we do that though, let's just take a minute, check this out and make sure it's gonna work for you. So before we jump right in, I figured it'd be useful just to touch base on the main parts that we're gonna need to flat tow our truck down the road in the first place. The five main components that you're gonna need to flat tow a vehicle are going to be your base plate, which is going to connect to the vehicle, allowing you to pull it down the road. Next will be your tow bar, which will connect your RV to your towed vehicle to safely get it down the road. Next is gonna be your braking system. Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Patriot supplemental braking system here on a 2022 Ford F-150. So there's two main types of braking systems on the market. Portable system, which is what the Blue Ox Patriot is and we have permanent systems. Now, permanent systems are great, however they require a very lengthy installation and they also require some significant modifications to your vehicle. With a portable system, you're not gonna have that initial lengthy installation and most of the time, there's gonna be no modifications to the vehicle required whatsoever. Now with a permanent system, however, it is gonna be a little bit easier each time you need to get in and tow your vehicle, 'cause it's usually just a flick of a switch or just simply pressing a button. more

Demco SBS with Wireless Coachlink Installation - 2017 Ford F-150- Video
Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System on a 2017 Ford F-150. Now this is going to be available in two different styles. First, you'll have the Wireless Coachlink which we will send the signal to the driver's seat of the RV to let you know when the brakes are being applied. The other option is going to be a wired LED light that will be mounted up by your rear view mirror, and that way you can see when it's illuminated also letting you know when the brakes are being applied. Now, all of the breaking is really done by this. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're going to be going over and showing you how to install the Demco Air Force One supplemental braking system here on a 2020 Ford F150. A supplemental braking system in its most basic form, it's gonna be applying the brakes on our towed vehicle here, in an amount proportional to that of our motor home. So why this is important is, when we have larger towed vehicles here, like this truck, it's going to place additional force and strain on the motor home's brake. So we're not going to be able to come to a stop as fast. And it's also going to put additional wear and tear on the motor home's brake. So adding a supplemental braking system like the air force one, it's going to be an excellent option for both safety and longevity. more

Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2012 Ford F-150- Video
Hi there Ford owners. Today on your 2012 Ford F-150, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's Air Force One. And this is what our braking system looks like when it's installed. The operating unit here takes air from the air brake system on your motor home, and is used to send it out to an actuator located on the pedal inside, and it will proportionately apply the brake pedal in your vehicle as you press the brakes in your motor home, helping you come to a seamless, smooth stop. And you can see here where our air hoses connects to our motor home. There is a tank and some fittings that we tap into on the motor home side that allows us to get that pressure from the brake system when we press the brakes. more

When flat towing your F-150, the brake light relay is needed to ensure that your turn signal is not overridden by your Brake-Lite signal. It does not interfere with your F-150's electrical system and it activates automatically so there is nothing you need to do once it is installed. And speaking of installation, let's go through it now.To start our installation, we want to pull down our dash panel. We have our tow bar, our base plate, our trailer wiring, our safety cables. Now you might be asking yourself, "Why do I need this" Or, "Is it required" Well, actually, most States do require you to have a supplemental braking system. And the reason that is, is if your vehicle does happen to become detached from your RV, it'll apply the brakes in your vehicle, bringing it to a safe stop.The only visible part of our braking system on the outside of our vehicle is going to be our breakaway switch here and that's what initiates the brakes to be pressed if it does come detached. more

Your braking system is just one of the main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle. Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit Installation - 2017 Ford F-150- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford F-150, we're going to be installing Roadmaster's brake light relay kit, part number RM-88400. Now if you're going to use a braking system when flat towing your F-150, you want to verify if you need a brake light relay, because when you hit the brakes in your RV, that braking system is going to apply the brakes in the vehicle. When it does, it may override your turn signal, just like we did there. Our turn signal is currently being supplied by the signal from our RV. The brake signal from the vehicle shouldn't override it. If the brake signal does override your turn signal, you won't be in compliance with state laws. more

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2018 Ford F-150- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F150 we're gonna be installing SMI's Air Force One supplemental braking system, part number SM99243. The Air Force One braking system is gonna provide you with supplemental braking while pulling your vehicle behind your RV. It's gonna use the air braking system on your RV to supply an airline back to your vehicle which will actuate your braking system using the supplied operating unit.It comes with an emergency breakaway switch so in case your vehicle happened to become uncoupled from your RV while going down the road this pin will get pulled and it will apply the brakes on your vehicle, bringing it to a halt to prevent any accidents from occurring. There's an indicator light that's installed on the back of your mirror, this way when you brake on your RV you know that your vehicle's braking because this light only activates when the actuator in your vehicle is pulling the brake pedal. What I really like about this system is that it's minimal in comparison with others. The components are smaller, it has less wiring, and using your existing air supply on your RV makes it actuate proportionally giving you some of the best braking performance you can get.Now that we've gone over some of the features let's show you how to get it installed. more

First let's talk about what comes in our kit. You're going to have your brake relay, which is going to attach to your brake light switch, your fuse tap, your 10 amp fuse, a few butt connectors, ring terminal, your self tapping screw, and a little extra wire.So let's talk about what our vehicle's going to do if we don't have our brake relay installed. Let's say you have a brake system on your towed vehicle or on your Ford. You're towing it down the road, when you hit your brakes in your RV, the brake lights are going to come on in your truck or in your towed vehicle. However, when you hit your brakes and you turn on your blinker in your RV, you're only going to see the brake lights in the truck because the brake light signal is overriding that turn signal. more

Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit Installation - 2016 Ford F-150- Video
Today on our 2016 Ford F-150, we're going to be showing you how to install the Eoadmaster break light relay kit for towed vehicles. Part number is RM-88400. Now you see without our brake light relay in place, as we apply the breaks in the coach, with the blinker on, it gets very very dim and very hard to notice. That means that the brake lights in our truck are overriding the blinker signal coming from our coach. That's what our brake light relay is going to correct. Now with our brake light relay in place, we'll turn that blinker on and you'll see as we hit the brakes, they are not overridden. more

Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System Installation - 2014 Ford F-150- Video
Today in our 2014 Ford F150, we will be installing a Blue Ox Patriot radio frequency proportional braking system. Part #BRK2012. Now when we're not flat-towing our F150 behind an RV, we can easily store a breakaway cable just by bundling it up here and lifting up the carpet like so and tucking it behind it just like that. This will keep out of the way of our feet and allow us to normally use our vehicle. If we want to tow, we can just pull it out and plug it in to our Patriot. This is a proportional braking system. more
